The Pilgrim:
A poem about the journey

the hum
of the drone . . .

the words
of the prayer . . .

send forth memories
of times
of the pilgrim . . .

beneath the shadow
of the himalayan peaks
under the master’s gaze . . .

— Janaka Stagnaro

Thank you for reading. It is now over 30 years ago I went hiking alone in Nepal, in the Everest area. There was a call that summoned me there to the land on top of the world, a land where untold seekers have trodden in search of God. It is a land where the prayers of Peace flutter in the wind and glisten in the snows. There is a Hum that pervades all, that not even the winds can alter. When I play the drone on the harmonium, it is here and beyond my memories send me.
